INW Women of Conservation

By Pat Loomis, Conservancy Volunteer

During Women’s History Month, we celebrate just a few of the women who fight for conservation right here in the Inland Northwest.

This year, the Conservancy’s Land Protection Committee is led by Lindsay Chutas. Lindsay is the Riparian Program Leader for the Spokane Conservation District Water Resources Department.

Enthusiasm and a love of our area has led her to devote her time to Inland Northwest Land Conservancy.

Lindsay’s job often involves visiting properties under easement with the Conservancy, to evaluate them and make decisions on how best to preserve the land in its natural state.  In her off-time, she is an enthusiastic mountain climber and a climbing instructor with the Spokane Mountaineers.

Lindsay is married to a geologist and they have an 8-year-old son who loves and appreciates nature as much as his mom.
